HÀ NỘI – The Justice Committees of Việt Nam and Laos should continue boosting co-operating to share information and experience, said National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Phùng Quốc Hiển yesterday while receiving Chairman of Lao Justice Committee Bouakham Thipphavong in Hà Nội.

Hiển briefed his guest on the duties of Việt Nam’s NA Justice Committee, including examining draft laws in the field of justice and supervising the People’s Supreme Court, the People’s Supreme Procuracy and anti-corruption efforts.

Thipphavong said justice was an important sector that contributed to maintaining social order and stability and preventing corruption. However, the Justice Committee of Laos was newly established (in 2016) so it needed to learn from Việt Nam, he said.

The two committees should enhance co-operation to help contribute to developing ties between the two Parties, States and people of the two countries, he said.

Earlier the same day, Chairwoman of the NA Justice Committee Lê Thị Nga held talks with her Lao counterpart, Chairman Thihpphavong. The two sides shared experience and discussed co-ordination mechanisms. — VNS
