Viet Nam News -HÀ NỘI — President Trần Đại Quang has urged enterprises to push ahead with business restructuring and the application of advanced science and technology to improve their management capacity, productivity and competitive edge.
In a speech to 100 outstanding entrepreneurs representing the small- and medium-sized business community in Việt Nam during a meeting in Hà Nội yesterday, the President suggested that entrepreneurs enhance investment co-operation to set up domestic and global production value and supply-demand chains.
He also urged the business players to study and follow late President Hồ Chí Minh’s exemplary morals.
After the successful August Revolution in 1945, President Hồ Chí Minh focused on business development as a way to fuel the country’s economy, he said.
He added that the Vietnamese Party and State had put forth a number of policies to encourage business evolution and promote the role of entrepreneurs in the cause of national construction, defence and development.
The đổi mới (renewal) process initiated by the Party 30 years ago witnessed significant and historical achievements, he said, noting that apart from opportunities and advantages, the country was also facing numerous difficulties and challenges.
Therefore, the establishment of a strong, ethical and competent business work force with a high sense of social responsibility, effective operations and competition was significant, he said.
He said the Party, State and people pinned a lot of hope on the business community to help the country avoid the “middle income” trap and proactively integrate into the world. — VNS
